 "Developmentally Appropriate       Preschool Classroom Set-up"

Developmentally Appropriate Practices reflect an interactive constructive view of learning.  The child constructs his/her own knowledge through interaction with the social and physical environment.  The child is viewed as intrinsically motivated and self directed.  Effective teaching capitalize on the child’s motivation to explore, experienced and to make sense of his or her experience.

Open Centers are areas of the classroom, where the children are able to access freely and explore their own pace.  Open centers consist of gross, fine motor activities, including block play, imaginative play, cutting, gluing and painting. The Math and Science corners/centers provide the children with opportunity to manipulate objects to construct pattern, to count, to sort and to explore their interest in nature. The Language corner provides children with opportunities to write, read, thus, explore their favorite author.
